Keeping up with the family tradition, the modified Carnival Sunrise was officially named, recently by godmother Kelly Arison, who is the daughter of Carnival Corporation & plc Chairman Micky Arison and his wife Madeleine. The naming ceremony was held at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York City.«To be a part of Carnival Sunrise's official naming is more than I could have ever imagined and an experience I'll never forget,» said Kelly Arison according to an official release by the cruise line. «The ship is absolutely beautiful, and I'm so honored to not only carry on my family's legacy as godmother but to also use this opportunity to raise awareness for a well-deserving organization, the Ehlers-Danlos Society.»The main highlight of the event was the presence of a custom-made, four-foot-high confetti-filled champagne bottle sculpture. The bottle which was uncorked by Arison during the ceremony was designed by world-famous artist Romero Britto, who is based out of Miami.The unique bottle carried Britto's signature in bright lively colors along with bold patterns as well as elements of cubism. The presence of pop art and graffiti and Carnival-inspired designs was also admired by many. The miniature versions of the bottle will be up for sale onboard the cruise and the proceeds will straightaway benefit the Ehlers-Danlos Society (EDS). The organization is involved in serving people suffering from joint hypermobility spectrum disorders. Arison is a strong advocate of the cause.  During the naming festivities, Carnival handed over a donation to the organization.Singer and American television host Kathie Lee Gifford also graced the occasion with her presence as she has a 35-year long relationship with Carnival. Gifford also addressed the crowd and extended her warm wishes to Arison for her role as a godmother. The singer has also served as a Godmother for two Carnival ships, Celebration in 1987 while Ecstasy in 1991.«The planning for this project began more than two years ago and involved 7,000 people who worked together to deliver this amazing transformation.
