Givenchy recently unveiled its Men’s Spring Summer 2020 collection. It is the first all-masculine collection designed by Clare Waight Keller. It was launched during the Pitti Immagine Uomo show in Florence.British Designer Clare Waight Keller has been serving as Artistic Director of Maison Givenchy since May 2017. Her women’s collections have put her on to the pedestal and her talent brought her to Givenchy and further elevate it by being its creative head. Not just women’s clothing but men’s clothing too inspire her. She has been equally involved with the masculine silhouette and putting her creative juices to work for them. After all the success that she achieved by unveiling her debut silhouettes for men during Paris Fashion Week last winter, the Givenchy Artistic Director presented her first all-masculine collection in Florence, emitting a palpable energy and garnering fans appreciation.“In the labyrinthian gardens of Villa Palmieri, Givenchy men’s silhouettes breathed with ample volumes, set off by a palette ranging from fresco shades of damask rose, buttermilk and powder blue to inky midnight, burgundy and gunmetal. The chiaroscuro invokes the dark poetry of Charles Baudelaire, underscored by ‘Fleurs du Mal’ calligraphy fragmented into abstract prints,” says LVMH.The collection is a mix of formal and informal fashion, at times fusing the two. It includes body hugging cycling tops that acts like a second skin beneath suits, boxy short-sleeved shirts as well as cargo pants. Soft jackets in three-button and double-breasted shapes, sometimes sleeveless, are cut in gleaming technical cottons, crisp checks and subtle pinstripes, paired with straight or wide 90’s pans. The house of Givenchy was founded in 1952 by designer Hubert de Givenchy. Shirt dresses that are very popular these days was presented by Hubert de Givenchy in 1954. As a tribute to the penchant for opulence of the Maison’s founder Hubert de Givenchy, Italian jacquards are reborn as overcoats and pants, morphing from traditional scrolling florals into new pixelated forms, as per LVMH.For the uninitiated, Givenchy is a French luxury fashion as well as perfume house. The house manages the brand of haute couture clothing, accessories and Parfums Givenchy, perfumes and cosmetics. Givenchy is a member of Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture et du Pret-a-Porter. The brand is owned by luxury conglomerate LVMH. Keller is the first woman to hold the position of Artistic Director.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the collection. https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
