With turned ebonized handle atop a stirrup-shaped support on bolts cast with multiple rings, either side of an urn finial. Measurement: 13cm widex21cm deepx22.5cm high, (5in widex8in deepx8 1/2in high) (2). Featured in lot 698. Estimate: £ 14,000 - 18,000 (18,000 USD - 23,000 USD)— “A rare table-top oak box mangle,” English/Dutch, circa 1760. The central weighted section fitted with a pair of compartments to take stones and with small brass ring handles. Measurement: 34cm widex57cm deepx62cm high, (13in widex22in deepx24in high). Featured in lot 861. Estimate: £ 12,000 - 18,000 (15,000 USD - 23,000 USD)— “A rare and finely-carved 18th century stained beech mangle board,” Northern Germany. Carved in deep relief with the figure of Charity, children by her side, above naturalistic blooms and leaves, the applied handle carved as a mermaid and above a bay-edged oval cartouche. Measurement: 17cm widex12cm deepx75cm high, (6 1/2in widex4 1/2in deepx29 1/2in high). Featured in lot 611. Estimate: £ 10,000 - 15,000 (13,000 USD - 19,000 USD)— “A rare and impressive brass and iron box iron,” Scandinavian, circa 1720. The turned handle between posts cast as Atlas-type figures, the wrought iron sides riveted to the cast brass top plate. Estimate: £ 10,000 - 15,000 (13,000 USD - 19,000 USD)— “A rare and very high quality wrought iron and brass box iron, on original stand,” Austro-Hungarian Empire, dated 1831. Of ox-tongue form, the sole braised to the body of the iron, fitted with a plate of engraved cast brass. Measurement: 8.5cm widex25cm deepx16.5cm high; Stand: 9cm widex37cm deepx9cm high (3). Carved from one piece of wood, with a clenched hand at one end, and a heart motif between truncated scrolls at the other, the central section carved with an inscription in Hofdaletur and initials. Carved from one piece of wood as a serpent, its open-mounted head (with teeth) at one end, its spiral-fluted back forming the upper part of the under-cut board, carved near the handle with the date ‘1785’ and the initials ‘E.I.P.[D.]Y.’ Measurement: 7cm widex8cm deepx82cm high, (2 1/2in widex3in deepx32in high).
