In honor of sake and seafood, The Japan Food Product Overseas Promotion Center (JFOODO) is organizing a San Francisco pop-up in collaboration with Hayes Street Grill. The “Restaurant Paired” pop-up aims to celebrate Japanese sake as the best alcohol pairing for seafood. It will take place inside the restaurant and will allow guests to explore the pairing with a new prix-fixe menu featuring seafood items alongside a selection of premium Japanese sake, curated by Certified Sake Sommelier Chris Johnson. This pop-up hopes to encourage people to embrace the harmony of seafood and sake, which is “scientifically proven to enhance the umami of seafood even better than white wine”.To explain this concept better there will be a special area set up in the restaurant where guests can “Escape the Ordinary” with seafood and sake pairings. The event features sake from Nanbu Bijin Brewery, Akashi Sake Brewery, and Momokawa Brewing. The pop-up space will serve two special seafood and sake pairing menus for lunch and dinner.Sake’s popularity comes from its ability to bring out the natural flavors of seafood and remains non-reactive to potentially unpleasant odors. As a drink, sake evolved alongside Washoku (Japanese cuisine). It aims to bring out the taste of the raw ingredients used. As exports of sake hit ¥22.2 billion (approximately $205 million) in 2018, it is evident that diners across the world are increasingly discovering why Japan’s national drink goes with fish so well. For more details, visit: foodandsake.com.https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
